FAQ

You should receive an email from Posh Photography confirming your booking and requesting

the immediate payment of your booking fee and for your forms to be sent.

This is your assurance that we will honour our commitment to you. It also confirms in writing everything that is agreed upon by both parties so that there are no misunderstandings. It gives you the chance to tell us more about what you like and captures all the addresses, photo locations and times we need. In 15 years we have never made a mistake and we never will because we are very organised.

Don't worry, most people don't know everything when they book either. If most is known, fill out what you can and send your forms off. If there are still many details and times to be finalized just make your booking fee and let us know your forms will be a little late. That's OK.

It is very normal practice for wedding photographers to ask for a booking fee or retainer to secure your date. Similarly it’s common to have additional payments before your wedding. The reason for the deposits are to ensure that we will be exclusively available to you on your chosen day. Also we start working for you from the day you sign your contract, helping with planning & organising, location scouting, admin etc. Wedding photography is a unique service and paying beforehand is the photographers insurance. We usually turn away other weddings to do yours and if the wedding did not go ahead for some reason we would be left with a huge loss of income and sometimes a lot of unwanted photos.

Yes you can, but unfortunately only one couple every year actually gets around to it. Everyone who gets an album is absolutely thrilled and very happy with their decision. If you would like and album, but can not afford it just yet, then please let us know and we'll work something out for you.

We will arrive at the brides dressing location approximately 1.5 hours before your ceremony. You do not have to be 100% ready and in your gown by then, as we like to capture the end of your makeup session and getting your gown done up. This may be extended to 2 hours if there is a good bit of travel to the ceremony location.

As a guide, 1.5 - 2.5 hours (excluding travel) is a good amount of photographic time after the ceremony to get the family groups, bridal party and have a couple of locations. It is better to have too much time than not enough as we can always chill out in a cafe or bar for a short while to relax. Aim for 2 hours and you'll be fine.

If there are any aspects of the wedding that may affect the photography you should discuss them with us as we may have some helpful suggestions to make. We usually have some good photo locations and ideas in mind and happy to learn of others if you have them.

We make all our couples look great, but it can really help when you have fun and play to the camera. Be crazy, suggest nutty stuff on the day if you want and please, please enjoy yourself. It really shows in the photos. People who say "I never look good in photos", are often right because they screw their faces up and don't cooperate. It's your wedding day, you look gorgeous, so work it baby!

A rainy day is the best light for photography so in one way, you are lucky. We'll go to other locations that allow you to stand under cover during your photos. Best thing to do is not worry and enjoy your day regardless of the weather.

This is common. We still like to get both of you with your real parents and also with their new partners. Warn them all what to expect and it will all be fine on the day. It's your day so others will do what we ask. Don't worry, we can be very persuasive with a big smile on our faces ;-)

We'd prefer not please. It can be quite distracting having someone shooting over one’s shoulder and its not a nice feeling knowing someone is copying our creative work

After your wedding we back up your images twice for absolute safety. We also have plenty of work to do on your photos. We go through every one of them and adjust them so they are clear and the colour is good. We also have some creative fun on our favourites and make some black & white and enhance others with some very special effects.

No, the free album withing 30 days is acheived by us picking the best 24 images. Dont worry, after 1000 weddings we know what people like.

If you want a custom magazine or table album then yes you pick the photos

If you're looking for an amazing photographer you shouldn't go any further!! Ian was fantastic in every way on our wedding day. He arrived early, he helped create the perfect atmosphere, happy, light, stress free and then after everything was done and the day was over I have now seen 18 preview photos which are simply better than words can describe! This man is talented beyond words! I have no doubt you'll be very happy with his work!!

We are honoured to have had the pleasure of Ian and Posh Photography take care of us and our photographs on our wedding day. Ian was professional, yet made everyone feel at ease. Ian is genuine, approachable and just a great person. He was everywhere, but never seen during the ceremony. His friendly attitude engaged all of our guests, and made everyone want to be in photos. Ian is a brilliant photographer who very quickly became our friend - we asked Ian to stay for our reception as a guest. Ian - thank you for being up to your hips in water to get the perfect photo!! We are genuinely excited to see you when we come back to far north QLD for our anniversary.

Should we have a "first look"?

Posh Photography

I say yes.  As a long term professipnal photographer I have seen many First Looks and many traditional aisle looks. THe First Look is always more emotional and personal.

How do I ask my photographer for a partial refund if she was late on the day of the wedding?

Posh Photography

This depends on the quality of the photos. If they are beautiful then time is not relevant  If photography was about time, then photographers would charge a bride more if she was late.

If she missed out on the ceremony or a key part of the day then you do have a point. Perhaps the photographer could make you a small album at no charge.  Hope you sort it out quickly because it will prevent you from cherishing the memories you do have.
