{"id":194031,"date":"2013-08-16T00:00:03","date_gmt":"2013-08-15T14:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/au\/real-weddings\/tomoko-bens-contemporary-garden-wedding\/"},"modified":"2022-03-16T15:31:56","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T04:31:56","slug":"tomoko-bens-contemporary-garden-wedding","status":"publish","type":"au-real-wedding","link":"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/real-weddings\/tomoko-bens-contemporary-garden-wedding\/","title":{"rendered":"A contemporary garden wedding by the Brisbane River: Tomoko &amp; Ben"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Brisbane couple Tomoko Kawada and Ben Brown admit they \u201chad absolutely no idea and underestimated what was involved in planning a wedding.\u201d But in their case, ignorance was bliss.<\/p>\n<p>With a tight budget of under $10,000, they were extremely grateful to have Ben\u2019s sister (and Tomoko\u2019s maid of honour), Sara, step in: \u201cShe whooped us into shape and directed the wedding,\u201d says Tomoko of a potential wedding planner in the making. \u201cShe was absolutely instrumental in our wedding preparation and without her there wouldn\u2019t have been a wedding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 26-year-old\u00a0 bride was a fairly stress-free one, comfortably delegating tasks off to the bridal party and family members. She left her bridesmaids to choose their own accessories and shoes; \u201cI\u2019m not a fan of absolute symmetry,\u201d she explains, and it was up to Ben, 27, to choose and organise outfits for him and his three groomsmen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSlightly unorthodox\u201d Australian native flowers were purchased from Brisbane Flower Market and arranged by Sara and Ben\u2019s mum and grandma, and the setup of the couple&#8217;s New Farm Park ceremony was also entrusted to family.<\/p>\n<p>The finished product: a beautiful garden wedding themed in violet and soft grey with a contemporary-feel reception at waterfront venue, Watt Restaurant &amp; Bar.
