And although Jose from Colombia didn\u2019t always speak fluent English, the language barrier was no issue in Messina\u2019s mind!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tried talking to him as I am quite a chatter-box but I was completely oblivious to the fact he didn\u2019t understand a word of my fast-paced English,\u201d she explains. \u201cHe\u2019d just politely smile and nod \u2013 I assumed he was enthralled with my intriguing conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, it was Messina who taught Jose English \u2013 and Jose returned the favour teaching her some Spanish. \u201cJose would come to buy coffee after coffee just to sit and speak with me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The loved-up pair planned their tropical wedding on November 30, 2013 in just six short weeks. \u201cAlthough I\u2019d always hoped for a gorgeously opulent princess wedding, the end result was luxury without pretence,\u201d says Messina. \u201cEven though the raindrops fell outside, our family and guests became better acquainted inside the reception venue and there was a sense of unity.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-55732 alignleft\"
