{"id":193815,"date":"2014-07-03T14:00:04","date_gmt":"2014-07-03T04:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/au\/real-weddings\/groom-proposes-stolen-ring-rachael-travis-vintage-wedding\/"},"modified":"2022-03-16T16:08:08","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T05:08:08","slug":"groom-proposes-stolen-ring-rachael-travis-vintage-wedding","status":"publish","type":"au-real-wedding","link":"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/real-weddings\/groom-proposes-stolen-ring-rachael-travis-vintage-wedding\/","title":{"rendered":"Groom proposes with &#8216;stolen&#8217; ring: Rachael &#038; Travis&#8217;s vintage wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">When Travis Jorgensen presented a diamond ring to Rachael Jackson in their 10th anniversary year, she burst into tears \u2013 and not for the reason you&#8217;d think.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal ring was a cherished birthday gift Travis has given her years before which Rachael believed she had lost and had been too scared to admit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt turns out I didn\u2019t lose it at all,\u201d laughs 29-year-old Rachael. \u201cI had taken it off to wash my hands and didn\u2019t realise it was missing until I went looking for it and couldn\u2019t find it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seizing a cheeky opportunity for a heart-racing proposal, Travis, also 29, swiped the ring and held onto it for six months before surprising her with it in Melbourne\u2019s Royal Botanic Gardens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecretly he had been holding onto it waiting for the right time to use it, says Rachael. And it was definitely the right time!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Together they chose her &#8216;real&#8217; engagement ring &#8211; a princess cut solitaire on a white gold band.<\/p>\n<p>Despite having an audience for a living, Travis, a teacher, and Rachael were nervous about standing up in front of 90 guests at their <a title=\"Meadowbank - Easy Weddings\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/WeddingVenues\/Melbourne\/Meadowbank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meadowbank<\/a> vintage wedding on February 28, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure if it was the sunshine, the love in the air or the fact that this day was finally here, but all our worries were gone, says Rachael. \u201cStanding up there at the altar, all we wanted to do was say \u2018I do.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-55348\" alt=\"Rachael_Travis_Vintage-Wedding_005\"
