{"id":193458,"date":"2015-10-01T14:00:22","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T04:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/au\/real-weddings\/family-ties-bring-sam-nathans-rustic-country-wedding-life\/"},"modified":"2022-03-16T17:34:34","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T06:34:34","slug":"family-ties-bring-sam-nathans-rustic-country-wedding-life","status":"publish","type":"au-real-wedding","link":"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/real-weddings\/family-ties-bring-sam-nathans-rustic-country-wedding-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Family ties bring Sam and Nathan&#8217;s rustic country wedding to life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Samantha Paterson and Nathan Streefland employed a small army of family and friends to ensure their rustic country wedding went off without a hitch.<\/p>\n<p>The couple had an incredible whirlwind romance, meeting in January and becoming engaged in May before walking down the aisle on August 15, 2015!<\/p>\n<p>Their\u00a0<a title=\"Backyard tedding tips - Easy Weddings\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/articles\/backyard-wedding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">backyard wedding<\/a>\u00a0in front of 110 guests was held at Nathan&#8217;s parents&#8217; house at Lagana, near Launceston, Tasmania, which the pair also call home.<\/p>\n<p>Sam says the familiar bush setting ensured the venue was very close to their hearts, while also keeping the celebrations<a title=\"How to set your wedding budget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/blogs\/easy-weddings-blog\/budgets-and-finance\/set-wedding-budget\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> on budget<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are a creative bunch so our motto was DIY,&#8221; she says. Everything from the ceremony spot on the deck, to a rustic bar, wooden signing table and bouquets were a labour of love from the couple&#8217;s close-knit families.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were never short of help and I think that&#8217;s what made it for us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After the ceremony, the bride and groom and 30 guests took a boat cruise up the Tamar Valley.<\/p>\n<p>The couple says their families&#8217; backing was important, especially as they&#8217;re both young.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is 21 and I am 22, and to have our families love our decision to spend the rest of our lives together, even if we are so young, gave us a feeling of peace and trust that the journey we see for ourselves isn&#8217;t selfish as our families wanted to be a part of it,&#8221; Sam says.<\/p>\n<p>Photos
