{"id":193314,"date":"2016-06-24T21:00:49","date_gmt":"2016-06-24T11:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/au\/real-weddings\/sharing-love-liz-sam-marry-stage-st-kilda-festival-wedding\/"},"modified":"2022-03-16T18:34:35","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T07:34:35","slug":"sharing-love-liz-sam-marry-stage-st-kilda-festival-wedding","status":"publish","type":"au-real-wedding","link":"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/real-weddings\/sharing-love-liz-sam-marry-stage-st-kilda-festival-wedding\/","title":{"rendered":"Sharing the love: Liz and Sam marry on stage at St Kilda Festival wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Marrying in front of thousands of strangers was a dream come true for Melbourne pair Elizabeth Henderson and Sam Butcher.<\/p>\n<p>Sam, 30, had proposed to his high school sweetheart Liz, 29, four years ago, but the arrival of baby Johnny, now three, and a tight <a title=\"Budget calculator\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/planning-tools\/budget-calculator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">budget<\/a> put wedding plans on hold &#8211; until a unique solution was found.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mum saw an article in the paper calling out for couples that would like to get\u00a0married on the main stage in between band sets at the St Kilda Festival on Valentine&#8217;s Day,&#8221; Liz explains.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I jumped onto my computer to\u00a0apply. Two days later we got a call from the <a title=\"Marriage Celebrants\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/MarriageCelebrant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">celebrant<\/a> that came up with the idea,\u00a0Kelly Rossi, saying that she would love to marry us on the stage and I had just 16 days to plan a wedding!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Liz, a singer, dancer and actor, was thrilled to marry Sam on a stage in their St Kilda Festival wedding and the unique opportunity allowed the pair to have the day of their dreams.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our\u00a0celebrant knew that we were financially stricken and put a call out for any <a title=\"Wedding Suppliers\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/wedding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wedding suppliers and vendors<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0would be interested in helping us out and being a part of sharing the love on Valentine&#8217;s Day. We were\u00a0inundated with offers&#8230;\u00a0Sam and I were overwhelmed with the kindness of strangers that came forward to help make our\u00a0day one to remember,&#8221; Liz says.<\/p>\n<p>The couple wed on February 14, 2016 in front of 100 family and friends (and thousands of festival-goers!), making headlines and being interviewed by television news crews. &#8220;As a performer, how perfect it was to get married on stage! We could invite absolutely anyone\u2026 Our coffee shop guy even got an invite!&#8221; smiles Liz.<\/p>\n<p>The celebrations continued at \u00a0Bells Hotel Rooftop Marquee in\u00a0South Melbourne, overlooking the city skyline.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was the most unique and special wedding ever! We got to share the love on Valentine&#8217;s Day with absolutely everyone\u00a0and the kindness of others made it all possible.
