But a week later Kris was badly assaulted so the relationship hit fast-forward as Kirsty helped care for him during his recovery. \u201c<\/span>That was the best decision I\u2019ve ever made because, as cliched as it is, I knew from the moment I met him that he was the man I wanted to be with,\u201d explains Kirsty, 27, of Kris,\u00a029. \u201cThis time enabled us to get to know each other while I was looking after him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before long they were engaged, and on May 21, 2016, they married in\u00a0a gorgeous\u00a0<a title=\"Golf club wedding venues\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/articles\/golf-club-wedding-venues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">golf club\u00a0wedding<\/a>\u00a0with 60 guests on Hope Island.<\/p>\n<p>The bride, who ravished in a modified <a title=\"Mori Lee\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/WeddingDress\/Canberra\/MoriLee\/\">Mori Lee gown<\/a>, says it was a \u201cbreathtaking\u201d day, celebrated with her two young children, who by then, were already calling\u00a0Kris &#8216;Dad&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKris is the best thing that\u2019s ever happened to my children and me,\u201d says Kirsty. \u201cHe came along and taught me how to love again, how to love <em>myself<\/em> again which is so important and, perhaps the most amazing thing, that it was possible to fully and completely
