The Brisbane pair, aged 25 and 27 respectively, were visiting the Gold Coast when Gen suggested they go for a walk along the beach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe promised me that we were [then] going to go shopping at Harbour Town \u2014\u00a0yes, I am a shopaholic \u2014\u00a0so I said to him \u2018let\u2019s walk for about five minutes and then go\u2019,\u201d explains Meryll. But Gen was taking too long for this shopping addict! When she pressed to leave, he requested another five minutes.\u00a0\u201cBecause he really loves the sea breeze, I agreed,&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n<p>But Meryll thought he was up to tricks, avoiding shopping time. Luckily, he eventually blurted out the big question &#8211; which wasn\u2019t the smoothest start to an engagement &#8211; but it resulted in an ecstatic and speechless Meryll\u00a0and led to their rustic garden wedding on May 7, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Seventy guests attended the ceremony at Twelve Apostles Catholic Church and reception in\u00a0<a title=\"Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/WeddingVenues\/Brisbane\/BundaleerRainforestGardens\/\">Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens<\/a>&#8216; Treetops Room, which the couple planned and styled themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a title=\"Budget calculator\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/planning-tools\/budget-calculator\/\">Despite having a tight budget<\/a>, we were able to prove that
