A decadent picnic at one of Sydney’s most beautiful gardens set the scene for Lachlan Bell’s proposal to Rosie Thomsen.

“He’d written a poem ending with the big question, but he later admitted he was so nervous he forgot to get down on one knee! He needn’t have been, of course I was going to say yes,” Rosie, 26, says.

The Beecroft couple then began planning the big day and Rosie was set on making sure it included the colour of romance.

They held their romantic red wedding on September 10, 2016 at Knox Grammar School’s William McIlrath War Memorial Chapel in front of 250 friends and family.

It was where Lachlan, 29, had gone to school, so held special significance.

The reception was held at Springfield House in Dural.

“It’s an amazing manor house with an intimate and romantic atmosphere,” Rosie says.

“The colour scheme was deep red, with orchids and roses beautifully arranged… and we had bells as our wedding favours as a nod to our surname in marriage. We had 120 of our family and friends join us for the occasion.”
