{"id":184224,"date":"2018-04-28T20:00:40","date_gmt":"2018-04-28T10:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/au\/real-weddings\/candice-and-alexs-love-of-all-things-nerdy-leads-to-lord-of-the-rings-wedding\/"},"modified":"2022-03-17T02:05:28","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T15:05:28","slug":"candice-and-alexs-love-of-all-things-nerdy-leads-to-lord-of-the-rings-wedding","status":"publish","type":"au-real-wedding","link":"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/real-weddings\/candice-and-alexs-love-of-all-things-nerdy-leads-to-lord-of-the-rings-wedding\/","title":{"rendered":"Candice and Alex&#8217;s love of &#8216;all things nerdy&#8217; leads to Lord of the Rings wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">The idea of a themed wedding inspired by hobbits may cause some raised eyebrows, but the <em>Lord of the Rings<\/em> wedding of Candice and Alexander elegantly incorporated their favourite story to tastefully transport their guests to Middle Earth.<\/p>\n<p>The Sydney couple, who met at a comic book convention, married on February 10, 2018 with 76 guests in Adams Peak Country Estate. \u201cAmong the vineyards and rustic buildings our <em>Lord of the Rings<\/em> theme suited it perfectly,\u201d recalls Candice, 31. \u201cWe spent every little detail incorporating our love of all things Tolkien for our big day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From the bride wearing the Evenstar that Arwen wears in the movie, to the White Tree of Gondor topper created for their <a title=\"Wedding cake alternatives for a non traditional couple\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/articles\/wedding-cake-alternatives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cake<\/a>, no detail was left behind in their <em>Lord of the Rings<\/em> vision. \u201cUsing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com.au\/jetshepard\/enchanted-garden-wedding\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">my Pinterest board<\/a>, I took a lot of ideas and spent a lot of time researching how to bring the LOTR theme into the wedding without having it be tacky or over the top,\u201d explains Candice.<\/p>\n<p>Their Pagan-oriented ceremony meant they were wed by a druid in a hand-binding and wine-drinking ceremony. \u201cMy husband [28] loves history, so our <a title=\"Top 60 marriage celebrants in Australia (by state)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/articles\/marriage-celebrant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">celebrant<\/a> spoke a little about the history of weddings in that era and explained what each ceremony meant.
