{"id":181148,"date":"2018-01-10T21:00:11","date_gmt":"2018-01-10T10:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/au\/real-weddings\/love-cold-climate-ruth-marcels-romantic-winter-wedding\/"},"modified":"2022-03-17T01:26:24","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T14:26:24","slug":"love-cold-climate-ruth-marcels-romantic-winter-wedding","status":"publish","type":"au-real-wedding","link":"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/real-weddings\/love-cold-climate-ruth-marcels-romantic-winter-wedding\/","title":{"rendered":"Love in a cold climate: Ruth and Marcel&#8217;s romantic winter wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">A cool-climate engagement inspired Ruth and Marcel&#8217;s romantic winter wedding.<\/p>\n<p>The Melbourne couple first met at a wedding in Romania a decade ago, but lost touch after Ruth, 29, returned to Australia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were both young and awkward and had no idea how to connect beyond that meeting,&#8221; Ruth recalls.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, fate had other plans and at the beginning of last year Ruth and Marcel, 27, reconnected through mutual friends.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At first I didn&#8217;t remember him as that same shy young man I met all those years ago because he was so confident and different &#8211; his English had definitely improved too!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ruth flew to Romania for Christmas and their whirlwind romance culminated in Marcel&#8217;s proposal on the rooftop of Timisoara&#8217;s highest building under falling snow.<\/p>\n<p>The couple paid homage to this winter engagement with their wedding celebrations on June 10, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>More than 300 guests from all over the world flew in for the romantic winter wedding at\u00a0The First Romanian Baptist Church in Endeavour Hills before the reception at Linley Estate.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our wedding was a magical winter wonderland set in the <a title=\"10 reasons to get married in the Dandenong Ranges\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/articles\/10-reasons-get-married-dandenong-ranges\/\">beautiful Dandenong Ranges<\/a>,&#8221; Ruth says.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There were sentimental touches, like grandpa penning a poem for us that got everyone tearing up, but there was also laughing and everyone having a blast.
