That\u2019s Nneka describing when she met Bill. The couple, aged 29 and 31 respectively,\u00a0were introduced at a backyard farewell party after Nigerian-born Nneka had just moved to Melbourne from New Zealand. \u201cBill began to woo me with his new fancy iPhone, pictures of his new car and his African sponsor child from Zimbabwe,\u201d explains Nneka. \u201cI was totally oblivious to his flirting attempts and was not interested in developing a relationship.”<\/p>\n
Instead she was focused on settling in. “My sole focus was to get a job ASAP, settle in to living in a new country, understand my new Russian athletics coach\u2019s English and trying to make sure I got on the correct train platforms so I didn\u2019t travel 30 minutes in the wrong direction\u2026 again! Basically, I was not interested.\u201d<\/p>\n
