Following a riverside proposal while being eaten alive by mosquitoes, Cairns couple Natalie and Kerrod threw themselves into planning their classic wedding with the date set just five months away.

“By that afternoon, we had our wonderful photographer booked and our wedding date set. So much to do in such a short time,” explains the bride.

Despite the short engagement period, Natalie says the wedding planning process was easy and relaxed. The only stipulations were that they wed in a church and celebrate in an indoor venue to avoid plans being derailed because of rain.

On August 25, 2018 the pair’s dreams came true with a ceremony at St Therese’s Catholic Parish: the local church attached to the school Natalie teaches at. Celebrations for 120 guests then continued into the night at Novotel City Oasis in Cairns.

Natalie and Kerrod, both 27, say it was the best day and night of their lives.

“The reception was a huge party. Everyone had a great time. Even Grandma, aged 90, was one of the last people to leave the reception.”

Luckily, Irene Costa’s Divine Bridal connected the bride with something that looked incredible and suited her shape perfectly.

A Michael Hill ring symbolised Natalie’s commitment to Kerrod.
