Emily and Micah’s love for travel has taken them places. In fact, it was during a backpacking trip to Turkey that they found the perfect engagement ring.

Four years later, Micah proposed on a road trip from Brisbane to Sydney. “Micah had planned everything with the help of my sister and her boyfriend. While we were hiking to a lookout point in the Blue Mountains, they set up a beautiful picnic that he had planned with champagne and all my favourite food!” explains Emily.

The couple, aged 27 and 28 respectively, wed on May 5, 2019, with 160 guests at Captain Burke Park, Kangaroo Point.

“We are both from Brisbane and love our city so it made sense to us to have our ceremony at a beautiful park, under a huge tree and a bridge we often drive across…We will be able to go past these locations whenever we want and will always be reminded of our wedding day,” smiles the bride.

With help from friends and family, the couple did a lot of DIY in preparation for the wedding, from designing invites and wedding website to foraging leaves for natural confetti, and building dried-flower walls as photo backdrops.

“Everything we did for the night was handmade by ourselves or one of our family and friends, so on the night it was an incredible feeling to watch everything having come together.”

Photos courtesy of Albert and Wild Photography.
