For groom Brayden, priorities lay with hiring a great band, having a free-flowing bar and having Wayne Rees as their celebrant, as Wayne had previously married Brayden’s mother and stepfather, and his sister and brother-in-law. For bride Danielle — she just hoped it wouldn’t rain.

“It has rained for every important event I’ve held. In fact, the night before our engagement party in May, when rainfall is normally at a minimum in Cairns, it rained so much that the only road leading to our venue gave way creating a sink hole; even swallowing Brayden’s aunty’s car while she was in it!” laughs the bride. “Disclaimer: it didn’t rain on our wedding day.”

The Cairns couple, aged 32 and 30 respectively, tied the knot at their romantic wedding ceremony overlooking Lake Placid. Guests were then treated to a tropical outdoor cocktail reception at AJ Hackett, where Danielle says ‘love was in the air’.

“Everyone laughed, everyone danced and everyone said it was a weekend to remember. Brayden even said ‘Let’s get divorced just so we can do it all over again’.”

Photos courtesy of Katie Purling Photography.
