June is Pride Month for the LGBTQ community, a month to remember the struggle to outlaw discriminatory laws and practices, but above all, a month to celebrate love, equality and diversity. I can’t think a better way to do it than sharing with you these 10 same-sex real couples that said yes to love!<\/p>\n

Not so long ago, in 2017, Australia voted ‘yes’ to marriage equality<\/a> with 61.6% (7.8 million) in favour, making marriage legal for same-sex couples. At Easy Weddings, we believe that marriage equality shouldn’t be an issue<\/a> and everyone should be allowed to marry the one they love.<\/p>\n

1. Lauren and Erin<\/a><\/h2>\n

When Erin proposed to her girlfriend Lauren,\u00a0same-sex marriage\u00a0<\/a>wasn\u2019t legal in Australia.<\/p>\n

Nor did they think it would happen in their lifetime. \u201cWe had been together for five years and Erin knew she was ready to ask me, so she went ahead regardless of what the law said and thank goodness she did,\u201d smiles Lauren. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t believe that in the same year we got engaged that this was happening around us.\u201d<\/p>\n

2. Renee and Felicity<\/a><\/h2>\n

\u201cIt was important to us to have an intimate and unique wedding that would stand
\nout from others apart from there being two brides!\u201d -Renee<\/p>\n

3. Greg and Troy<\/a><\/h2>\n

Greg, 51, and Troy, 36, had a three-year-long engagement \u2013 not to take extra time to plan, but to wait for the law to provide equal opportunity.<\/p>\n

4. Teresa and Tracy<\/a><\/h2>\n

Teresa and Tracy met properly through a mutual friend and have now been together for 18 years with two children together.<\/p>\n

5. Chiara and Bianca<\/a><\/h2>\n

\u201cPrior to us meeting, both of us had just got out of long term relationships with guys and we were both at rock bottom in life,\u201d Chiara says<\/p>\n

6. Byron and Jeremy<\/a><\/h2>\n

A week together in paradise helped Byron and Jeremy realise they had something special.<\/p>\n

Fast forward to November 2017 and marriage equality finally became a reality, something the Canberra couple had been waiting for before making it official.<\/p>\n

7. Lisa and Kerri<\/a><\/h2>\n

\u201cWe met 26 years ago at a music camp when a relationship like ours was still taboo,\u201d says Lisa, 52, of her wife Kerri, 51. \u201cWe exchanged rings almost immediately and, in our minds, we were married,\u201d\u00a0 she smiles. \u201cIn 2018 the law was finally passed and we were able to get married.\u201d<\/p>\n

8. Ben and Tim<\/a><\/h2>\n

Ben and Tim were an item for seven years before Australia granted them the right to legally tie the knot in late 2017. \u201cOn the weekend after marriage equality was announced, we were walking to the grocery store when Tim turned to me and said \u2018So, are we going to get married now?\u2019<\/p>\n

9. Luke and Damien<\/a><\/h1>\n

Damien and Luke were in the same circle of friends for two years before fate brought them together. \u201cWe tackled an eight-week Europe trip to see if we could kill each other, but we came back even stronger,\u201d Luke says with a laugh.<\/p>\n

10. Verena and Tanja<\/a><\/h2>\n

\u201cTanja proposed in\u00a02015 in a way that was just as unconventional and crazy as our whole relationship \u2013 at an abandoned train station with flowers, music and torches,\u201d Verena recalls.<\/p>\n
