But there&#8217;s a different royal wedding that has made history this year and we 100% here for it.<\/p>\n<p>The Queen&#8217;s cousin Lord Ivar Mountbatten has married his long-term partner James Coyle, in the first same-sex royal wedding in Britain&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_88600\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-88600\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-88600\" src=\"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Capture4.jpg\" alt=\"same-sex royal wedding\" width=\"477\" height=\"478\" title=\"\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-88600\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lord Ivan Mountbatten and his husband James Coyle. @ivar_mountbatten via Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The pair wed in an intimate ceremony held in a private chapel at Bridwell Park,\u00a0within the Mountbatten family estate. Lord Mountbatten&#8217;s three daughters were in attendance, as was his ex-wife Lady Penny Mountbatten who honoured her promise to walk him down the aisle.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_88601\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-88601\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-88601\" src=\"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Capture6.jpg\" alt=\"same-sex royal wedding\" width=\"476\" height=\"476\" title=\"\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-88601\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lord Ivar Mountbatten with his ex-wife Lady Penny Mountbatten and two of their daughters are Royal Ascot in June. @ivar_mountbatten via Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>No immediate members of the British royal family attended, however many have reportedly sent their well-wishes to the couple.<\/p>\n<p>Just 60 guests attended the intimate affair, congratulating the couple who first met in Glasgow in 2014 and celebrating with champagne and cheese after the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s more, the pairs fox red labrador Rosie also participated in the marriage ceremony!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_88602\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-88602\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-88602\" src=\"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Capture5.jpg\" alt=\"same-sex royal wedding\" width=\"479\" height=\"478\" title=\"\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-88602\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">@ivar_mountbatten via Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In a heartfelt Instagram post sharing images from the wedding, Lord Mountbatten thanked his wedding suppliers Trish Harrogate, the chief Registrar for Devon, as well as Bristol&#8217;s Teachers Rock Choir for providing lighthearted yet fabulous entertainment for the grooms and their guests.
