Sniffy Scents

3. Go get a massage

Head to your local massage parlour and get the whole treatment. A full body massage for an hour or two and take some time to yourself to de-stress. Your body will thank you!

4. Meditation

Meditation is one great way to clear your head and promote relaxation. Focusing on your breathing helps release tension in the body, allowing you to reduce your stress levels and centre yourself. You can simply take 5 minutes to deep breath, or go through a guided meditation (there are apps for this!) Buddhify is a great app for this, so is Headspace, and Calm.

5. Unplug from social media

The best way to do this is to head somewhere in the literal middle of nowhere without internet access or mobile reception. How can you be tempted to check your email if you literally can’t? Or, leave your phone/iPad at home and head to a hotel nearby for a short staycation, and treat yourself (and maybe your partner) to a little well-deserved break! If you’re worried about missing something important, let your family know where you are and if need be, they will call the hotel.

6. Laugh

Easier said than done, of course. So if you’re super stressed, head to a comedy show or flick across to Netflix and binge watch some of the many amazing comedy specials on there. I recommend Ali Wong. If you haven’t seen anything by Ali, then now is the time to introduce yourself. You’ll be laugh-crying in no time. Make a night of it with your bae.

7. Exercise

Taking a 20-minute run does clear your head. Or so I’ve heard, I have never run that far in my life. My running abilities peak at trying to get a train so I don’t have to wait on the platform for 16 more minutes. Maybe if there was a zombie apocalypse, I would feel more incentive to move my body. If you (unlike me) have the ability to run, then I’ve heard it does wonders for your mental state. Otherwise, maybe try a walk with the dog(s).

8. Download the app

Download our Easy Weddings app and work on your wedding on the go for perfectly fuss-free wedding planning. You can search for suppliers, tick off your to-do list and much, much more. This is guaranteed to make planning your wedding much more stress-free.

9. Get a wedding planner

It is never too late to get a planner in to help you with everything. Even if you’re a week out and need an “on the day” coordinator, why not reach out to our network of talented wedding planners? Sometimes it’s worth a few extra dollars to have peace of mind and feel more relaxed. Hiring a pro is always a bit of a relief.

10. Vent and then refocus

Take 10 minutes to just vent to a friendly ear, your dog or a brick wall. If you are feeling like this is all a bit much, get all of that negative energy out and then… take a moment to remember WHY you are getting married and focus on that. Whether it’s because you WANT to, because you love your partner or because you wanted to have a party with your friends, ultimately, there is a reason you chose to do this, so keep that fresh in your mind and allow that purpose alone to decrease pre-wedding stress.
