Without the two of you, I couldn’t have been standing here as the man I am today – and I certainly would be as happy as I am today had it not been for your many years of love and support and advice and, the older I grow, friendship.

Beyond bringing me into this world, you’ve moulded me into the person I am today.

It sounds cliched, but it’s absolutely true. You taught me to be the kind of man who could win the heart of such a good and wonderful woman. I am proud to be your son and I love you more than these three words can possibly express. <This is a good place to share a story about an important lesson you learned from your parents, how their example taught how a marriage should work, or any other anecdote that will ensure this part of your speech is truly heartfelt and personal. Don’t forget to make mention of any siblings or family members you may be particularly close to.>

There are so many other people who have meant so much to <partners name> and me. Some of them were in our lives before we met each others and some we’ve met along the way, as a couple.

<You could mention some of them here or just say “There are so many of you to thank that we’d be here all night if I did, but suffice it to say that each of you will always be very, very special of ‘us’. Thank you.>.

There are also several people who stood with us today as we took our vows, and I want to ensure you all know them.

<Here, introduce each of the groomsmen and the ring bearer, and the bridesmaids if necessary>.

And the best man, of course, is <name of best man>. I chose <name of best man> to be my best man because… <Tell your guests why you chose him to be your best man and what he means to you. This is where you can share an entertaining story about the best man, if you have one you can share.>

I have one last person to thank, and that is my beautiful spouse
. I really like the sound of that!

<Be sure to look at your new spouse when you are delivering this portion of your speech. Don’t be scared. Enjoy it.>

I feel so blessed and so privileged that you agreed to marry me.

<Here you can share a special story about your partner or tell them in front of everyone all the things you love about them.>

You have already changed my life in so many wonderful ways and I know that it’s just going to get better from here.I love you more than words can express and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you. So, thank you for that.

<Bend down and kiss your partner.>

If a toast is fitting, now is a good time to ask your guests to stand and raise their glasses for one! It could be for your spouse or you could have her stand with you and, together, offer a toast of gratitude for everyone else.

See more of the real wedding behind this groom’s toast | Photo by MEO Weddings
