Sydney<\/h2>\n

Those looking to take a city honeymoon <\/a>in Sydney will no doubt have their eye on the icons of the city, the Opera House, Sydney Harbour and Harbour Bridge. All these can be enjoyed from a harbour tour, but don’t forget the other less obvious attractions of Sydney.<\/p>\n

Macquarie Street is full of architectural treasures, many dating back to the nineteenth century. Parliament House, and the State Library of New South Wales are both worth a look, and at the end of the street you’ll find Hyde Park and the Anzac War Memorial.<\/p>\n

Perhaps you could hire horses to ride around Centennial Park, or soak up the atmosphere on Bondi Beach where the party goes on long after dark. Finally take a trip to The Rocks; formerly a part of Sydney to avoid, but now a vibrant tourist area with cobbled streets, old buildings and bustling markets with local crafts.<\/p>\n

Melbourne<\/h2>\n

The largest city in Victoria, Melbourne has plenty to keep you occupied on your honeymoon. Stay at the Windsor Hotel for a taste of yesteryear, and eat out in Chinatown for a dramatic contrast. Cricket fans should book a tour of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, while foodies may prefer a visit to the Queen Victoria Market.<\/p>\n

Take a walk in the Royal Botanical Gardens, or check out Government House, a replica of Queen Victoria’s Isle of Wight Palace, located in the Kings Domain. Satisfy your morbid curiosity and take a look at the Old Melbourne Gaol, where Ned Kelly was hanged, or kick back at a pavement cafe in the fashionable St. Kilda area.<\/p>\n

Adelaide<\/h2>\n

Adelaide has a lot to offer for a city honeymoon whether you are artists, history buffs or animal lovers. It is difficult to find a better collection of local and international artwork than at the Art Gallery of South Australia, and to experience aboriginal life, the Tandanya Aboriginal Cultural Institute is unrivalled.<\/p>\n

Relax on the beautiful white sandy beach at Glenelg, and visit the amusement park for an evening of old fashioned fun. If you don’t have the time for a wine tasting trip, a visit to the National Wine Centre of Australia can give you the chance to sample rare vintages from all over the country. Adelaide zoo is a haven for animal lovers, housing many rare breeds close to extinction.<\/p>\n

A city break in Perth is a great choice for a relaxing honeymoon. Wander around King’s Park, which houses almost three thousand specie of Western Australian plants and includes a botanical garden. It also offers spectacular views of Perth and the Swan River.<\/p>\n

Take a day trip to the charming port of Freemantle, with its markets, maritime museum and arts centre, or discover the secluded Indian Ocean beaches of the sunset coast. If you are looking for lively nightlife, the Northbridge area is the place to be, with much of the action centred on James Street and Lake Street. Finally Perth centre itself is well worth exploring, especially the Old Mill, Town Hall, and His Majesty’s Theatre.<\/p>\n

Brisbane<\/h2>\n

For a city honeymoon in Queensland, Brisbane is hard to beat. Stay at the Stamford Plaza Hotel for ultimate luxury, and for fine local food with stunning views, try The Summit at Mount Coot-tha Lookout. Spend a day at the Southbank Parklands, a mixture of parks, restaurants, markets, and street theatre, which even includes a man made beach.<\/p>\n

For nature lovers, the Lone Pine Koala sanctuary houses kangaroos, wombats, wallabies, and Tasmanian devils as well as the koalas its name suggests. You could also go bushwalking in Brisbane Forest Park just north of the city.<\/p>\n
