Torn apart more than two decades ago, Yesim Atila and Caglar Culcuoglu are proof that some things are meant to be.
The couple, originally from Ankara, Turkey, met as teenagers in their homeland in 1987 and were inseparable for three years.
“We were each other’s first love,” Yesim, 43, says.
But Yesim says family reasons brought things between her and Caglar to a heartbreaking end.
“I had to leave him without even explaining why and got married to someone else and moved to Australia in 1991,” she explains.
Yesim’s first marriage ended and a year later, 2012, she and Caglar reconnected, travelling the world together before getting engaged in Venice.
Yesim and Caglar finally had the day of their dreams with a Las Vegas elopement on June 23, 2015.
The bride says they felt like movie stars as they wed on the Eiffel Tower observation deck of the Paris Hotel. While it was just the two of them, Yesim says more than 500 well-wishers in the street became a part of the celebrations.
The couple followed their intimate wedding with dinner at Paris Hotel’s Le Village Restaurant.
“We feel blessed that life gave us a second chance,” Yesim says of their elopement.
“This was a love that was meant to be.”
