Emma Mew and Brenton Olfers didn’t stop at a ceremony and reception to celebrate the start of their marriage.
The Melbourne pair, aged 27 and 29 respectively, continued their riverside wedding on April 11, 2015 through to the Sunday with a spit roast, yabby races and a game of cricket on the lawn.
Their chosen venue, Tindarra Resort in Echuca, Victoria, allowed for the couple’s wishes of a weekend getaway, the historical town being the place they first met camping through mutual friends.
“Tindarra Resort was the perfect place for us,” says Emma. “It has such a relaxed feel with a gorgeous marquee and beautiful tin shed right on the banks of the river… we were able to hire out the whole resort exclusively for the weekend.”
Emma recalls the surprise river action that created an interesting backdrop for their vow exchange. “During the ceremony we had boats and paddle steamers going past which not only made it hilarious when they blew their horns during our vows, but the ‘Emmylou’ paddle steamer made the perfect photobomb.”
The bride went DIY for her decorations, collecting bottles and jars for the flower centerpieces. “We also used antique wooden ladders, one was my pa’s who is no longer with us, and hung them from the roof of the marquee with bulb lights, jars of flowers and different heart decorations,” she smiles.

“She’s gorgeous,” Brent says of his bride.
Emma’s brother walked her 10-week-old neice and flowergirl down the aise.

“It had a gorgeous low back with lots of fine beading detail and a beautiful soft chiffon bottom and train,” Emma says of her Baccini & Hill gown.
