A mutual love of beer brought together Vanessa Bice, 27, and Matthew Rutter, 28.
“Matthew and I met at the 2011 Brisbane Oktoberfest Festival through mutual friends and we have been inseparable ever since,” explains Vanessa.
Two years later Matthew proposed during a romantic weekend away in Mooloolaba. “We were fishing and picnicking along a cannel when Matt told me to close my eyes because he had a present for me. When I opened my eyes he was down on one knee and holding out a gorgeous ring. He asked me to marry him and I said ‘thank you’,” laughs Vanessa.
The pair were married at her former school on September 26, 2014 with an elegant wedding. “Our wedding was held at All Hallows’ Chapel in Brisbane. Since starting year 8 at All Hallows’, I knew that I wanted to get married in this beautiful chapel,” says Vanessa.
The bride wore a princess-style gown from Casar Elegance in Brisbane. The strapless style was encrusted with Swarovski crystals and Vanessa wore a cathedral veil. “I wore sparkly silver platform wedges to match,” she smiles.

The couple achieved black and white elegance for their special day.
“Only past pupils or relatives of past pupils can be married in this chapel,” Vanessa says of All Hallows’ Chapel.
The Story Bridge is one of the many gorgeous backdrops marrying at the venue allows.
“After the ceremony, we hosted a gathering of 70 family and friends at Brisbane’s Victoria Park Golf Complex,” explains Vanessa.
