Perth pair Michelle Marevich and Chris Gaudieri headed underground to celebrate their elegant vintage wedding.
Michelle, 25, and Chris, 27, opted for the cellar at Sandalford Wines, set on the banks of the Swan River, after falling in love with the venue at first sight. “There was no question we wanted to have it there,” Michelle says.
Their ceremony venue – St Anne’s Catholic Church in North Fremantle – was also a special place for the couple, being the church where both Michelle, and Chris’ mum, celebrated their first Holy Communions.
Michelle and Chris married on February 21, 2015 in front of 160 friends and family. String quartet Dolce Ensembles played the couple’s favourite song – Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” – as Michelle made her way down the aisle.
Family traditions played a big part in the winery reception celebrations, including a three-course feast to ensure guests didn’t go hungry. “With us both being from European families, we wanted to make sure we fed our guests!” says Michelle. This included a gelato cart and homemade biscuits after the ceremony, served with traditional Italian and Croatian liqueurs.
“Our wedding really focused on sharing the love with our family and friends,” Michelle says. “I really did have the most amazing day of my life.”

Michelle’s gorgeous gown from Collezione Bridal Couture originally had a lace neckline before she made the decision to go strapless and let the dressmakers work their magic.
After trouble with their first booked venue, Michelle and Chris had to push their date out by seven months. Says Michelle, “Every single supplier I had booked was still free for that date – surely a miracle.”
Michelle and Chris say there is nothing they would change about their day. “It was filled with love and laughter and we wouldn’t have it any other way,” Michelle says.
Da Doo Ron Ron DJ Entertainment kept the dancefloor pumping.
