Three makes a family: Mel and Dave celebrate rustic wedding at the Blue Mountains

Nine years after they first met, Melanie and Dave celebrated their rustic wedding alongside their baby boy, River, and loved ones at the idyllic Blue Mountains.

“We envisioned our wedding day to be about us, our families and friends. Our priorities for our wedding day were simple – stay together the entire night, be present, feel the love and have fun – we did exactly this!” beams the new bride with happiness.

45 close friends and family came together to witness Mel and Dave’s wedding on March 30, 2019, at Seclusions Blue Mountains, a romantic and charming venue.

The NSW pair, both aged 24, planned every step of the wedding together, with loved ones pitching in to put up decorations. “We ensured our day represented us and reflected the people we are, making our friends and family feel our love too,” says the bride.

“I wish I could relive our beautiful wedding, it was just perfect!”

What a great idea to have an ‘unplugged ceremony’!

David popped the question while the pair was on a babymoon at Surfer’s Paradise. “I said ‘yes’ a million times and he desperately tried to get the ring on my very swollen pregnant fingers,’ laughs Melanie.

“Our story began nine years ago when David and I met at a gathering at a mutual friend’s place,” recalls Melanie with a smile. “He was showing off some ‘cool tricks’ on his skateboard when he went flying off the board. I watched as it all unfolded and once I realised he was okay, I rolled my eyes (nothing has changed, this still occurs often!)”

“Seclusions Blue Mountain is the most amazing place on earth! The views are beyond breathtaking. We have the most gorgeous photos thanks to this venue and our photographer Images by Kevin. They have the most perfect couple retreat log cabins which have a rustic feel with touches of romantic bliss,” praises the bride of the her wedding venue and photographer.

The pair went into a Michael Hill Jeweller store together and picked a ring out for each other.

Melanie advises other couples to take in the entire night. “Stop and look around, to see the people, your now husband, your family, laughing and happy. Enjoying a night that is all about you and your husband.”
