With a Valentine’s Day proposal and the wedding date set in August, ex-The Bachelor star Emily Simms and Pierre Ghougassian had just six months to plan their modern glam wedding.
“I was always very clear about what I wanted. Pierre trusted me in choosing everything,” says Emily, who appeared in the 2015 instalment of The Bachelor (with Sam Woods).
“I tried to stick with a glamorous, old-world sort of theme. Everything was white, cream, soft pinks and rich, deep pinks. Absolutely no black.”
Emily’s efforts paid off on August 17, 2018 when the couple wed before 100 family and friends at Melbourne Town Hall. Celebrations continued into the night at The George Ballroom in St Kilda – somewhere Emily says is by far the most beautiful venue she’s seen in Melbourne.
Emily and Pierre say the secret to planning a wedding in under six months is to know exactly what you want before talking to suppliers.
“Scour the internet for inspiration. If you don’t know exactly what you are after, I feel this is where confusion can start to creep in. Think about you and your partner’s taste, and be clear and concise when trying to emulate that.”

After appearing on The Bachelor, gorgeous Emily eventually found love with Pierre the ‘organic’ way – through a friend, at a bar.
Pierre and his groomsmen opted for modern navy suits, tailor-made by Pierre’s youngest brother of Remy, Sydney.
Emily and Pierre exchanged vows on the balcony of Melbourne Town Hall.
Seeking romantic, glamorous and fashionable photos, (and “no 90s glamour shots please!”) the Melbourne pair enlisted the help of ATEIA Photography & Video. “Ramy was amazing,” praises Emily.
Emily’s long sleeve, lace gown was created by entrusted designer Tanya Didenko Couture, who’s worked with Emily for three years now. “She knows my body shape and knows my style, so it all worked really well,” explains Emily.
Triple R Luxury Car Hire provided the classic vehicles for the day.
As a makeup artist herself (Emily Simms Makeup), the bride created her own glamorous look for the upscale nuptials.
“We chose a cake from Nikos Cakes – two different layers; one vanilla citrus and one vanilla berry,” describes Emily. The three tier creation was white rendered with gold foil and fresh flowers.
Isaac from Main Entertainment kept the good times rolling with acoustic vocals at the ceremony and a DJ set for the reception.
