Classic minimalism for Shelby and Connor’s Tatalia Function Centre wedding

After originally considering an elopement in some far-flung destination, Shelby and Connor pivoted when they realised too many important people—like their grandparents—would miss out. Rich River Golf Club’s Tatalia Function Centre in Moama became the unlikely hero, winning them over with a minimalistic, black-and-white vision.

Shelby and Connor’s journey to the altar was anything but conventional. After eight and a half years of dating, Connor casually slipped a ring on Shelby’s finger in the middle of the night on Christmas. As Shelby recalls, “To this day, he still hasn’t formally asked me to marry him, but I thought the way he proposed was perfect and unexpected.”

“Our wedding day vision was minimal, classic black and white, no fuss, family and kid-friendly. We wanted a party with vows and a night our important people would remember that was chill and all about love.”

Tatalia Function Centre checked all the boxes for this November 3, 2023, wedding for 100 guests, offering a picturesque golf course, beautiful ceremony spaces, and excellent services. Shelby highlighted the stress-free experience they sought, which the Tatalia wedding package, with its inclusive offerings and efficient setup, provided effortlessly.

The ceremony unfolded on the golf course against a backdrop of gum trees and pristine lawns. In a touching moment, Shelby’s 13-year-old son walked her down the aisle. The ceremony was succinct, with a focus on the love story and family involvement. Post-ceremony, guests enjoyed pre-drinks and canapes in the upstairs function room, serenaded by an acoustic singer.

The reception in the elegant function room featured a two course buffet dinner with roast beef, chicken, and pork on the menu. “The food was one of the many highlights and everyone complimented it was one of the nicest meals they had recieved at a wedding,” shared Shelby. The celebration continued with speeches, a first dance to Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars,” and a lively party under fairy lights.

When asked about what was most important in selecting a venue, Shelby emphasised the desire for a naturally beautiful setting that required minimal decoration. Rich River Golf Club exceeded their expectations, offering stunning backdrops for photos and a stress-free day with everything in one location.

“If I could do it all over again, I would do everything exactly the same. It was perfect,” Shelby said.

Our venue was amazing. It was already so beautiful, so it didn’t need much more to make it perfect. They served the most amazing food and the service was terrific. My husband loves golf and I love Moama, so it was a fitting place and just worked our great. Everything we needed was in one place. The team were so accommodating with our vision and happy to go as small and or as extravagant as we wanted.
