Surfie soulmates Stacey and Jackson describe their bohemian wedding as like one big party full of love.
“Our love of travel, food and surf made our wedding venue choice of the Sheraton Grand Mirage, Gold Coast easy,” Stacey says.
“We love their seafood buffet and it’s the only resort on the Gold Coast right on the beach.”
The couple first met on holiday in Hawaii. “The day before I departed I exchanged currency and the lady there told me her son was also heading over to watch the surfing comp,” Stacey explains.
“I didn’t think much about it. After landing in Honolulu, two blonde surfie guys got on the same shuttle bus as me. After a few minutes of casual chat, Jackson asked if I was possibly the Stacey that had changed money at the currency exchange the day before, with his Mum!
The pair swapped details and after a couple of catch-ups went on their first official date. “We sent a photo to his Mum to say we had definitely run into each other! We have been inseparable since.”
The pair married on the lawn at the Sheraton Grand Mirage, before the party got started inside the luxury venue.
“The pouring rain stopped, the clouds parted and the sun shone through the palm trees onto the lawn,” Stacey says.
“Drinks in hand, Jackson and guests gathered against the beautiful beach backdrop, while Dad and I arrived at the grand entrance in a convertible 1960s red Ford to meet the girls, sidestep the mud puddles and marry the man of my dreams. I had never felt so much love in one space.”

Stacey and Jackson were wed by experienced celebrant Robert Simmons.
“After a few years, Jackson popped the question at Flame Tree Winery in Montville (Sunshine Coast) after lunch on my birthday. Jackson had organised all of our family to be at the surf club in town when got back that afternoon and it was special to celebrate the engagement with our nearest and dearest,” Stacey says.
Stacey changed into a Grace Loves Lace gown for the reception, which perfectly captured the bohemian vibe.
“We continuously combine our three favourite things of travel, food and surf across the globe, and we love nowhere better than our hometown of the Gold Coast,” Stacey says.
