After first meeting in the surf and a wedding proposal involving a surfboard instead of a diamond ring, a surf and beach themed wedding seemed a no-brainer for Cassie and Tom.
The Barwon Heads couple, aged 32 and 31 respectively, began their special day with a sunrise surf followed by a barefoot beach wedding ceremony at Thirteenth Beach. In keeping with the couple’s alternative style, the ceremony concluded with the ringing of Buddhist bells.
“Everyone rang bells together to bring the good vibes and keep away bad spirits.”
Later, Cassie and Tom celebrated with family and friends at a lunch hosted by At The Heads in their hometown.
“We love our coastal community so our major wedding theme was ‘support local’,” says Cassie. Everything included in the day was chosen with sustainability and zero waste in mind.”
Styling was kept to a minimum, allowing the coastal beauty of Barwon Heads to stand out.
“It was just the most epic surf wedding ever,” says the bride.
