“Unique, iconic and Melbournesque. As a wedding planner for 10 years, I wanted our State Library Victoria wedding to be a day our guests would really remember.”

Wedding planner Darcy and partner Brayden’s chic inner-city celebrations blended the groom’s love of Melbourne history with one definite must-have from the bride.
“To get married at a venue that I’d personally never worked at for a client,” explains Darcy – Easy Weddings’ in-house wedding planner and venue extraordinaire. “The Dome on Collins Street and the State Library of Victoria provided the perfect setting for our magical day.”
Darcy and Brayden wed on April 10, 2021, with 110 friends and family. Starting at the heritage-listed, former Commercial Bank of Australia building, The Dome, Mike Larkan delivered an engaging ceremony surrounded by gorgeous floral arrangements under the awe-striking dome ceiling. “We let the architecture and opulence of the room really speak for itself,” describes Darcy.
Afterwards, while the new Mr & Mrs and their 8-member wedding party took to Melbourne’s iconic city streets for photos and video, guests got to know each other at nearby cocktail bar, Father’s Office. Then it was time to see 10 years’ planning other people’s weddings manifest into a luxury, elegant and modern affair with the help of Showtime Events Group, Weddings of Distinction and Melbourne Entertainment Co.
Our reception commenced at 7:00pm with guests enjoying the first 45 minutes in the STUNNING La Trobe Reading room for drinks, canapes and an antipasto grazing station. From here guests were ushered into the The Cowen Gallery for our seated affair. Then, at 10:30pm, we had a super secret room-reveal in the Redmond Barry Reading Room, where the team at Showtime Events Group put on a show – complete with salted caramel espresso martinis, mini roving desserts, late night pizza, a giant chess board, and more!
Thankfully I had previously worked with the team at Showtime Events Group. We didnt even bother to look anywhere else, we knew this venue was ‘the one’.

CHECK OUT STATE LIBRARY VICTORIAThis luxury Melbourne wedding at State Library Victoria was captured beautifully by White Vine Photography and Videoboutique.
“Our bouquets were amazing, everything I envisioned and more!”
I asked for pops of colour and boy did the team at Bouquet Melbourne deliver! We had a mixture of high and low centrepieces alternating on guest tables, the colours were slightly more subtle for the reception, just to ensure Brayden wasn’t walking into a sea of PINK!

BROWSE WEDDING FLORISTS“We loved everything about our entire ceremony! Mike Larkan is a hoot!”
CHECK OUT MIKE LARKAN CELEBRANT“I absolutely adored my wedding dress.”
I chose a Peter Trends design from the amazing team at Always & Forever Bridal, they tailored the fit to suit my short stature perfectly! The Hollywood gown comes with a detachable overskirt, for real WOW factor. After our bridal party portraits, I removed the overskirt to reveal a more figure-hugging dress, and dropped my hair down from a high ponytail to a soft curl, and added a rose gold embellished tiara. It really helped me to feel as though I had two completely different looks, with simply the one gown.

BROWSE WEDDING DRESSES“Showtime Events Group catered the most AMAZING food.”
We had:
- Three types of roving canapes and an epic antipasto grazing station to begin.
- Entree was served alternatively, a choice of Osso Bucco tortellini or prawns and polenta topped with chorizo.
- Main course was MY personal fave; being a butcher’s daughter, red meat was a MUST! We had an eye fillet, alternating with a lamb rump. Both were absolutely delicious!
- To finish, we had three mini roving desserts: mini apple turnovers, mini lime meringue pies and liqueur truffle chocolates.
- Last but not least, with Brayden being pizza obsessed, we had two types of pizza served roving from 11pm onwards as a late-night snack.

VISIT STATE LIBRARY VICTORIA“As a wedding planner in the industry, I was fortunate enough to call upon all of my favourite vendors to help execute our vision.”
We hired our detail pieces, i.e. table numbers, wishing well and charger plates from the team at Weddings of Distinction, and stationery was provided by Life Is Peachy.

CHECK OUT WEDDINGS OF DISTINCTION“One vendor who our guests have not stopped raving about is Nathan from Melbourne Entertainment Co.”
We hired Nathan as a hybrid DJ/sax player, and boy did he deliver! Our d-floor was pumping all night, and our guests had an absolute ball! Nathan’s ability to interact and engage with your guests whilst performing, and creating a real “party vibe” is second to none.

CHECK OUT MELBOURNE ENTERTAINMENT CO“We hosted an intimate recovery lunch the next day with our bridal party, some close friends, and family.”
It was not something that was mandatory for our guests, however as most of our family chose to stay in the city that evening at Park Hyatt Melbourne, we thought it would be nice to have a casual lunch get together to debrief on the night before!
