Who said flower girls have to be little girls?
Aymie Evenden stepped away (slightly) from tradition when choosing her bridal party. “We chose our bridal party and I knew from the start one special person to include,” explains Aymie, 24. “I asked my grandma to be my flower girl.”
The Brisbane teacher married her beau Samuel Vitale, 25, on June 29, 2015 at their classic wedding celebrated at Victoria Park Golf Complex. The bride was the first to wake on her special day, some time alone she chose to reflect on the couple’s relationship.
“I snuck past sleeping bodies, turned the kettle on and made my way to the balcony overlooking the Brisbane River,” remembers Aymie. “The apartment was quiet and everyone was still asleep but I was too excited to sleep.” She said reminiscing about the “love at first sight” love story was the perfect start to the day. “We are best friends first and the rest is easy.”
Lucky groom-to-be Samuel was surprised with a special gift from his bride that same morning. “I hid an Armani watch in Samuel’s room with the time set to 2pm (our ceremony start time) with a note that said ‘C U @ 2pm!’” says Aymie.
The couple headed north for their honeymoon to Port Douglas.

Jim Jirarnuttaruj created Aymie’s smokey-eye look.
Elizabeth Rose Bridal pulled together the stunning bouquets with hints of soft colour, perfect for a classic wedding.
While Iron Horse Carriages provided the “official” transport for the day, the couple also enjoyed a ride on a golf buggy.
