Classic romance for Sophie and Tom at Ballara

Sophie and Thomas, who found love on Tinder, recently said their “I do’s” in an unforgettable ceremony at Ballara Receptions.

The couple’s love story took an unexpected turn when Tom proposed on a hiking trip gone slightly awry. “We got bogged, and it ruined all Tom’s plans to propose on the top of the cliff. Instead, he proposed on the side of the road. Great story to tell, definitely a day to remember!” Sophie shared with a laugh.

The couple, joined by 100 of their closest friends and family, chose 28 October 2023, to bring their vision of a colourful, sophisticated, and refined wedding to life.

Ballara Receptions, a family business, was the clear choice for the couple. “There was no question about where we were going to have our wedding day,” Sophie explained.

After a wedding morning glam session by Magical Makeovers, Sophie dressed in her embellished wedding gown and was accompanied down the aisle by her mother. The venue seamlessly accommodated the various stages of their celebration, from the chapel ceremony to pre-dinner cocktails on the verandah and the grand finale in the main room. The event flowed effortlessly, allowing the couple and their guests to enjoy every moment.

Entrees included smoked chicken risotto, pumpkin agnolotti with frontage sauce, and a prawn dish that left a lasting impression. Mains featured pork belly, lamb shanks, and salmon, while dessert was a sweet symphony of red velvet pudding, churros with chocolate sauce, rhubarb, and strawberry cheesecake.

Reflecting on the menu, Sophie expressed gratitude, saying, “The chefs went above and beyond, and it made it all the more special.”

Despite an extended reception, Sophie and Thomas wished for more time on the dance floor, chatting with loved ones, and capturing moments in Ballara’s awesome photo booth.

“We wouldn’t have changed a thing; it truly was magical and everything we had dreamed of,” Sophie shared, reflecting on their wedding day.

The festivities continued with a post-wedding day brunch hosted by Sophie’s parents, providing an opportunity to reminisce and chat about all the joyous moments.

The venue catered for the whole event — a one stop shop!The chefs came up with a custom menu for our wedding and we were so grateful. With Ballara being Sophie’s family’s business, it made it all the more special.
