Scared of heights, Socheata Sras couldn’t understand why boyfriend Martin Hie had taken her to Hong Kong’s The Peak – the city’s highest mountain and home to breathtaking views.
“That’s when he proposed overlooking the beautiful skyline of Hong Kong,” Socheata, 32, says. “I was in complete shock and surprise at first but then became overjoyed.”
The Melbourne pair, who shared an instant attraction after meeting through mutual friends, waited six years before jetting to Thailand for their destination wedding.
“Our dream wedding was to have an intimate resort-style theme overseas with breathtaking views,” Socheata explains.
“We chose to have an intimate glam wedding to celebrate our love with the people that were closest to us.”
Socheata and Martin, 35, wed on March 7, 2016 at Cape Sienna Hotel and Villas in Kamala, Phuket, in front of 55 family and friends.
Celebrations continued at the venue’s New Sun Deck overlooking the ocean and the bride planned each detail from the elegant pink and white blooms to the resort theme and homemade decor.
“Our wedding was beautiful in every way from the design to the spectacular fireworks display at the end of our first dance. So much thought and effort went into the day,” Socheata says.
