Sandra Cho and David Kim wanted to showcase the beauty of Australia to their Korean relatives flying in especially for their Sydney wedding.
So the bride had reason to be worried when heavy smoke from burn-offs around the city threatened to ruin the view.
“I picked Pier One as our wedding venue as it was a place where our guests from overseas could enjoy our beautiful harbour and see the iconic Opera House and the Harbour Bridge all at the same time,” Sandra, 28, says.
“But Sydney was covered in so much smoke that you could not see more than a few metres. I was really, really devastated.”
However, rather than ruin the big day, Sandra says the smoke haze added another dimension.
“It made the photos and video look incredible,” she says.
Sandra and David, 29, wed on May 7, 2016 in front of 130 guests.
Pier One provided the perfect setting for the Sydney wedding, with overseas guests having plenty of opportunity to soak up the harbour views.
Sandra has simple advice for future brides: “Don’t stress and enjoy every moment!,” she says.

Classic bride Sandra wore a princess style gown, satin edge veil and crystal-encrusted tiara which had her looking like royalty.
The couple met in their first year at the University of Sydney. “We had been dating for seven years when David popped the question,” Sandra explains. “He surprised me by dropping off one thousand roses at my front door… I knew it was going to be a special day.”
“We got married on the same day we started dating back when we were in uni,” Sandra says. “It was exactly nine years of being together.”
The couple incorporated Korean wedding traditions into their Sydney wedding.
The couple chose a lavish three-tiered cake for their big day.
