Teh Sin Nee and Justin Yong Wai Kuan are proof that true love can go the distance.
Seven years after meeting at university in Perth, the pair’s friendship grew into something more when Sin Nee met up with Justin while holidaying in Malaysia, where he was living.
Three years of long-distance love later and the couple married in an elegant outdoor wedding at the Cottesloe Civic Centre, Perth, on December 1, 2013.
Sin Nee, 29, said from the outset she and Justin, 30, knew what their ideal wedding would be – intimate, informal and fun.
The outdoor venue fitted the bill perfectly, as well as giving the couple’s international guests a chance to enjoy Perth’s beauty in summer sunshine.
Despite the laid back setting, Sin Nee and Justin still looked the part, Sin Nee wearing a stunning Collezione Bridal Couture gown and Justin sporting a dapper suit from Wardrobe.
The wedding was also an effortless fusion of Chinese and Australian culture and the couple paid homage to their heritage by including a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at the bride’s house the morning of the wedding, which Sin Nee describes as full of joy and fun.
Following the beachside ceremony, celebrations continued in East Fremantle, where waterfront views at The Red Herring provided the perfect accompaniment to the sit-down reception for 180 guests.
Despite having nearly 200 guests, Sin Nee describes the day as intimate.
Instead of the traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for a unique cheese wheel stack from Say Cheese, while the flowers were supplied by Will & Grace Florist and arranged by one of the bride’s close work colleagues.
