Michelle and Chad’s classic wedding in Melbourne had all the hallmarks of a traditional wedding, but without all the fuss.
“When it came to planning our wedding, we both wanted it to be fun and as stress-free as possible,” Michelle explains.
“We didn’t get too caught up in the little details and we both wanted our guests to have fun.”
The pair, who first met three years ago, chose Elsternwick venue The Ivory, in Melbourne’s leafy bayside, for their classic wedding on November 1, 2019.
Their 107 guests were right at home in the elegant venue, which perfectly matched Michelle and Chad’s sophisticated and monochromatic style.
“We aren’t big on formalities so we kept things short and sweet with the ceremony but it was exactly as we wanted,” the bride recalls.
White and champagne blooms adorned the ballroom reception venue, while the bridesmaids and groomsmen kept with the monochromatic theme in their black dresses and charcoal suits.
The pair say there is nothing they would change about their special day, except maybe take some more time out for themselves.
“Take some time on the day to sit with the person you’ve just married and take it all in!” Michelle advises future brides.

Bayside Weddings and Events created the elegant floral arrangements.
The couple were wed by celebrant Linda Hamill.
“We had our first date at a bar in St Kilda where Chad was living at the time,” Michelle recalls. “We later bought a home together and after a year of living there Chad proposed one Saturday night! We had a pool table and he had placed the ring in there for me to find. It was completely unexpected but a really nice surprise.”
The classic wedding boasted an elegant monochromatic style with crisp whites and timeless black.
