After a romantic public proposal on Southbank foreshore in front of thousands of people watching the New Years Eve fireworks, Sian and Isi began planning their wedding.
What initially began a lavish city wedding in hometown Melbourne, quickly became a relaxed waterview wedding held on popular tourist island, Koh Samui, in Thailand.
“I knew what I wanted in the style of our wedding: simple, fresh, rustic, lanterns, fairy lights and more lanterns! We wanted a laid-back atmosphere where our guests could eat, drink, dance and have an amazing holiday also,” says the bride. “And I heard destination weddings were more affordable.”
The couple, aged 45 and 36, married on February 26, 2019 on the white sand beaches at Anantara Bophut Koh Samui.
The hardest part, Sian says, was putting her trust into wedding planners and vendors across the globe. Fortunately, they pulled together to create something truly unforgettable for all in attendance.
“You can’t put a price on what myself, my husband, our kids, family and friends experienced that day. It was absolutely magical.”

Sian purchased her incredible gown from Brides of Brunswick.
The relaxed Thailand holiday came at the perfect time, as the couple had faced some terrible luck the year prior with Sian’s son involved in a serious car accident.
The newlyweds exchanged rings from Michael Hill Jeweller.
“We are an unlikely duo, especially with our nine-year age gap.”
The reception had everything the pair envisioned: lanterns, fairy lights and more lanterns!
