Congrats to this couple who have won a place in our 2019 Wedding of the Year comp!
They are in the running to win a luxury second honeymoon at Heritance Aarah Maldives.
Sarah and Kieran’s elegant wedding was a true representation of their lives together.
“We always have fun, we don’t always do things by the book and we always make do with what we’ve got,” Sarah explains.
“That also sums up how we met, how the proposal happened and all the details of the wedding planning.”
The couple held their elegant wedding ceremony at Bonaira Native Gardens in Kiama, on the NSW South Coast.
Sarah’s dad Craig Moran was the wedding celebrant, making the elegant outdoor ceremony extra personal.
The reception, held at The Pavillion Kiama, had a travel theme – a nod to the couple’s globetrotting adventures.
“We used boarding passes instead of a seating chart directing the guests to tables named after our favourite places, a suitcase as a wishing well and fun signs like ‘in-flight beverages’ by the bar,” the bride says.
The reception was full of colour and picture-perfect, thanks to event stylist Sarah.
“Our wedding was a representation of us as a couple,” she says. “It was fun, colourful and broke the rules.”

Sarah and Kieran first met on a night out after being set up by mutual friends. “After both playing it cool, we eventually started chatting, but being a few drinks in I wasn’t as ‘cool’ as I thought. Kieran said ‘you’ve been staring at my lips for ages, you can ask to kiss me’. We’ve been together ever since!” Sarah says.
Sarah describes Kieran’s proposal, while they were on a picnic at Cronulla, as “perfectly imperfect”. “We had some cheap drinks, cheap snacks, and while enjoying all this realized we were in the ‘no alcohol zone’ and could be fined at any minute! But we stayed put as we were having so much fun. Before we went to leave Kieran said ‘close your eyes I have a surprise for you’. He says this all the time at home and it’s always something that I’ve lost… so I thought it was my missing Havaiana thongs! Imagine my surprise opening my eyes to him on one knee with a beautiful ring in hand.”
The loved-up couple’s rings were sourced from Michael Hill.
Sarah’s keen eye for detail helped style the perfect elegant wedding.
Instead of a wedding cake, the couple opted to offer ice-cream in some of their favourite flavours.
