Sara and Matt designed their cocktail-style modern wedding to make the most of the special time with family and friends.
“We chose cocktail as we wanted our guests to interact with everyone but also to encourage the guest to let their hair down and have a dance with us,” Sara, 27, says of the modern wedding at Seasons 5 Resort and Spa in Melbourne’s Point Cook.
Sara and Matt, 24, were keen on the luxurious venue because of its location close to home and its on-site accommodation for guests. Discovering that they could have their two fur babies at the ceremony sealed the deal.
The creative couple made all the decorations for their February 23, 2019 celebrations, while a three-piece band, photobooth and candy bar added to the party atmosphere.
“It was truly a reflection of us and the love we have for one another,” Sara says of the modern wedding.
“Our guests all revelled in the opportunity to dance and celebrate with us through our cocktail wedding and interacted with family they never met as we became one family.”

The couple’s classic rings were sourced from Michael Hill. Matt had already bought a ring when the couple holidayed in the Maldives. Despite leaving the ring at home, romantic Matt couldn’t let the opportunity at the beautiful destination pass him by. “He worded up the band that was playing and they quickly changed the tune to the song Can You Feel The Love Tonight which is when he approached me and got down on one knee and popped the question,” Sara recalls.
“Matt and I met through friends five years ago,” Sara says. “Matt helped me through one of the hardest times of my life and because of this our friendship grew even stronger and our relationship started. We realised our values were very similar, and what we wanted for our future was much the same.”
