Ready for some rustic wedding inspiration? This styled shoot by Sugar and Spice Events showcases a fresh take on the ever-popular theme.
Plum and burgundy shades set the tone for this glamorous shoot, set in a grassy field at Capaja Meadows near the Gold Coast.
“We came up with the theme ‘the new rustic’ because from a styling perspective, there’s only so many mason jars filled with baby’s breath we can take!” laughs Decinda MacDonald, Creative Director at Sugar & Spice Events.
“But seriously, rustic weddings have been huge over the last few years and it’s our job as stylists to educate clients on how a relaxed, non-fussy look can be achieved without looking like so many others.”
She adds, “Weddings should be individual and this look has all the elements of a rustic wedding but with fun and vibrant colours to really bring it to life.”
The Gold Coast stylists joined forces with White Ivy Design to create a whimsical scene with touches of Australiana and a festive feel.
Plums, pomegranates, grapes and hydrangeas, thistles and roses in red wine and rich blue shades combined to create a true feeling of opulence. “There is something so romantic about deep reds and purples,” says Decinda.
An antique buffet takes pride of place, hosting a decadent display of desserts, while fresh fruit and flowers burst from the drawers.
“Botanical styling is the new rustic,” comments Decinda. “Rather than a DIY look, brides are opting for more elegance with dark furnishings that don’t require linen, lots of greenery and tall candlesticks.”
The bride herself is a picture of bohemian elegance, draped in a vintage lace gown whose backless design adds a modern edge and long train gives an extra romantic touch.
