While self-confessed sport fanatics Pip and Toby first met at work, it would take a friend setting them up on a date to finally bring them together.
“I met my friend at the pub and surprisingly Toby was also there. Next second, the person I went to meet had to leave… the biggest set up of all time!” laughs Pip, 38.
Pip and Toby believe they were destined to work together and meet. “We’re both passionate about rugby, and living in a mad AFL state like Victoria, it’s impossible to find people that not only know what about rugby is about but who are also passionate about it. The only catch is that I’m a Kiwi and Toby an Aussie, so when New Zealand and Australia verse we somehow work it out and support each other, winning or losing.”
Soon after becoming an item, the Melbourne pair moved in together, escaping to Red Hill every Easter for some time away from their busy lives. That is where, on Good Friday 2017, Toby, now 39, got down on one knee and popped the question.
The following year, on March 10, 2018 Pip and Toby celebrated their love at their rustic industrial wedding among 50 guests at The Line in Footscray, Victoria.
“I know it’s cliched, but I’ve met my other half and absolute love of my life.”

Toby and his groomsmen donned custom-made navy suits by InStitchu.
Warehouse space The Line was transformed for the couple’s industrial wedding with greenery hanging installations, filament lighting and matte black tableware.
Pip wore an incredible Made With Love design purchased from Bluebell Bridal.
Pip and Toby advise future newlyweds to go with the flow and soak in everything. “Try to enjoy every minute. You can’t influence anything on the day so just make the most of it.”
“Our day echoed exactly what we’re all about – love, happiness and lots of good times.”
Pip and Toby are currently planning their next trip away – to Japan for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
