Jennifer’s father who is in a wheelchair rolled his daughter down the aisle with her sitting on his lap to marry Alicia in a romantic water view wedding on March 9, 2019.
The 110 guests present could not help but cheer them on. “Instead of silently standing throughout the ceremony, our guests cheered as we walked down the aisle and there was plenty of laughter,” recalls Jennifer with a smile.
The WA pair, both aged 29, met through mutual friends and although they didn’t hit it off at first, the more time they spent together, the more smitten they became with each other.
Four years after a special proposal on the famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge in Northern Ireland, Australia passed legislation allowing same-sex marriages.
“We already knew what each other wanted for a wedding – it would be a casual wedding where people could wear whatever they wanted and just have tasty food whether it looked fancy or not!” laughs Alicia.
The venue Lot 80 provided the perfect backdrop with its surrounding bushland and overlooking the Meelup Creek and the pristine coastlines.
“There’s always something that will not go to plan, just go with it and it will make for good memories in the future!” Alicia advises future brides.
