Lauren Tuck and Adam Nikolovski had always pictured themselves having a destination wedding, and what better location than balmy north Queensland?
“We envisaged our wedding to be a perfect sunny day, full of love, laughter and happiness,” Lauren, 28, says.
“We wanted our ceremony to be intimate and informal followed by a reception where we could party the night away with our friends and family.”
The Geelong pair found the perfect location in The Elandra resort, Mission Beach and set the date for June 11, 2016. They booked out the resort for three nights, ensuring there was plenty of time to spend in the sun.
Lauren, an accountant, and Adam, 29, an insurance broker, wed in front of 110 family and friends on the resort’s lawn area.
Reception celebrations followed around the pool. “The set-up up is beautiful as is, but we decided to bring in additional lounge furniture, flowers, lighting and personalised touches such as the ‘L A’ in the pool, personalized candles, cushions and signage to make it really special to us,” the bride says.
The couple also added a touch of X-Factor to their first dance with a performance from reality show contestant Jason Heerah.
“As soon as I heard him perform Disclosure’s Latch on the show, I really wanted him to sing it for our first dance at our wedding,” Lauren says of her favourite song.
“Luckily enough for us, Adam’s brother-in-law knew him and organised him and his band to come up and be our entertainment. They were amazing!
“Everyone was up on the dancefloor the whole night and our first dance to Latch was so special.”

Groom Adam went for a modern classic look with a navy tuxedo.
Lauren says she wanted her bouquets to offer a pop of colour against the scenery, choosing shades of pink and mauve put together by Flowers By Jenny. “They were absolutely exquisite,” she praises.
“We found the most amazing venue in Australia, with breathtaking sea views and added special touches that were personal to both of us,” Lauren says about what makes their destination wedding unique.
Bride Lauren, in a Jane Hill designer gown, was perfectly put together with a little help from the team at Rachael Gregory Hair & Makeup. “All of us absolutely loved our makeup. Highly, highly recommended!” she says.
Adam’s parents surprised the couple with flame throwers and fireworks!
The couple opted for a variety of food stations to tempt their guests – from paella to sushi, tacos and dessert. “The presentation was so superb and the food was so, so delicious,” Lauren says.
For the first dance, Jason Heerah performed the bride’s favourite song, Latch, the same song he’d performed in 2014 on X-Factor. It was also the same song Adam had woken Lauren with on the morning he proposed to her after setting up the house with candles and roses while she slept.
“We are so incredibly happy with our wedding video by Threadless Films,” smiles the bride. “We will treasure it forever.”
