Like many modern day love stories, Tash and Jay’s began when the pair ‘swiped right’ on Tinder.
“We messaged for a while before Jay asked me and my three dogs on a date. We went to the beach and despite Zuma scratching Jay while swimming and Flame vomiting all over the footpath at breakfast, somehow the crazy dog lady still didn’t scare him off,” laughs Tash, 38.
Tash’s dogs featured in Jay’s proposal the day before their one-year anniversary, and even held honourable positions in the pair’s bridal party.
“River was best man, Flame was flower girl, Zuma walked me down the aisle and Azazel (the couple’s newest fur-child) had our vows,” explains the bride.
Tash and Jay, 40, married on February 12, 2019 – the couple’s two-year anniversary. Despite it begin a Tuesday, nearly all guests made it to the bohemian farm wedding ceremony held at Marybank Farm and reception at Highbury Hotel in Adelaide.
A number of DIY elements featured throughout the day, including home-grown succulents, the handmade doorway for the entrance to the aisle and the welcome sign. “Jay also did all the decorations for the ceremony and reception … he set up the tables and the reception venue and arranged all the flowers. It was fantastic to have him so involved.”
Instead of purchasing a new wedding gown, Tash wore her grandmother’s 60-year-old debutant dress!
It was important that all suppliers, including their celebrant, photographer and venue, were dog-friendly.
Tash and Jay exchanged rings from Class A Jewellers and Michael Hill.
Tash and Jay’s wedding wouldn’t be complete without their fur-babies.
