Priscilla & Brian’s glamorous 1920s-inspired vintage wedding: Part 2

Following Part 1 of Priscilla Choi and Brian Tran’s glammed-up vintage wedding in Brisbane (in the company of a mere 600 guests), day two of the celebrations kicked off with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at popular Asian “wedding” restaurant, Landmark – in the outer Brisbane suburb of Sunnybank.

The bride was adorned in gold jewellery by her family, and customary red envelopes were exchanged (which, including the couple’s wishing well, bore enough cash to pay for the entire reception – for 300 people!)

Trading in her pre-loved Jenny Packham wedding gown (“I like the idea that the dress has its own story and journey,” she says), Priscilla graced traditional Mandarin cheongsam – a figure-hugging dress from the theme’s era – which she wore in red, and her lovely bridesmaids, ivory.

Maroon and ivory continued beautifully throughout the event’s styling; creamy chair covers with deep red sashes, luxury menus and stationery of the same palette, and a four-tier ivory wedding cake festooned with red and gold paper cranes.

The wedding marked the end of a romantic courtship centered around the Markus Zusak novel, The Messenger.

For five years the pair left messages in random places for each other to find, the most romantic to me – albeit more new-age than their 1920s theme – were several weeks of video messages posted by Brian on Priscilla’s Facebook wall, “digging deep” to express all the things he loved about her.

Congratulations to you both! I hope your heartfelt messages continue forever in marriage.
