Prianca and Karan’s morning ceremony overlooking the sparkling Pacific ocean flowed seamlessly into an intimate reception in the City Beach Wedding & Events Venue Pearl Room.
After meeting in high school, Prianca and Karan’s relationship blossomed beyond friendship leading to their October 10, 2021 wedding for 90 guests at City Beach Wedding & Events Venue.
“We had always envisioned an intimate, simple, relaxed, beachfront, modern Indian wedding,” says Prianca. “A lot of the customs of an Indian wedding really resonated with us, and both our parents had Indian weddings, so we thought we’d carry on the tradition!”
The festivities began a two days prior to the wedding ceremony with a traditional Mehndi night where intricate bridal henna designs were applied to Prianca’s hands with painstaking precision. With most guests travelling from Sydney, this Wollongong wedding celebration felt like a weekend escape.
On their wedding day, Prianca and Karan, as well as their bridesmaids and groomsmen, had two sets of show-stopping formalwear. For their ceremony, Prianca wore a stunning red bridal lehenga with gold embellishments amongst pink and green detailing, while Karan opted for a complementing custom-made sherwani.
After posing for photographs against the backdrop of the Wollongong coastline, the pair joined their friends and family across the road at City Beach Wedding & Events Venue. Priaca wore an elegant, strapless A-line ivory gown, contrasting beautifully with Karan’s sleek black suit from Just for Him.
Inside the venue, artfully decorated with gold accents, guests enjoyed a plentiful buffet feast of colourful Indian cuisine. “City Beach Wedding & Events Venue has their own extremely talented Indian chef,” says Prianca. “A mix of curries, pakoras and condiments were served to fit all dietary requirements, topped with Indian sweets and fruits.”
After a bass guitar performance by Karan, the floor opened much to the delight of the wedding party who partied to a danced of Indian beats combined with classic Western party anthems.
Flexibility was the most important thing for us. Not only was City Beach Wedding & Events Venue able to accommodate our needs with holding an Indian wedding, but they were also very flexible when it came to the gap between wedding and reception, the serving of food, and back-up weather alternatives for the outdoor ceremony. If we could do it all over again, we would do everything exactly the same; our day was perfect.
