A vendor search on Easy Weddings was the first step to planning the rustic wedding of Jacqueline Zhen and Kek Sheng.
The couple married on June 25, 2016 at Marybrooke Manor in Sherbrooke, Victoria. “After a 15-minute search on Easy Weddings, we shortlisted a handful of venues to visit,” explains the bride.
After finding Marybrooke Manor, the planning quickly flowed with a highlight finding Jacqueline’s gown at Fairytales Bridal Boutique. “It was the first gown I tried on and my then-fiance just let out the loudest ‘whoa’ in the boutique – so I knew it was the one!”
The Malaysian couple included a cultural tradition on the day, where families and relatives gathered at the bride and groom’s separate rooms. “My fiance then came down with his groomsmen to my room, where he had to get through my bridesmaids blocking the door asking for an auspicious red packet,” explains Jacqueline. “After that we had a tea ceremony to pay respect to our elders.”
Their wedding ceremony, which the bride describes as “peaceful” and “warm”, followed in the afternoon, with a Buddhist monk conducting their vows under sunny winter skies. “It was the calmest day since our preparation started,” she says.
“We truly feel grateful that we can now call each other husband and wife, not only because of how well we can live and work together, but the wonderful people we are blessed with around us,” smiles the bride.

Walking down the aisle on her father’s “study arm”, Jacqueline recalls, “I could feel the warm atmosphere surrounding me even in the middle of winter.”
“Although our wedding was not in an easy-to-reach location for most of our guests,” says the bride, “we managed to pull it off with good timing, communication and trusted websites such as Easy Weddings.”
