“It was a hot, bohemian-style mess!”
This is how Perth floral designer Rachael of Haus of Blooms describes the show-stopping bouquets created for her bohemian luxe wedding to builder beau Shane.
The London-born bride turned to her floristry teacher Matthew Landers to create the gorgeous mismatched arrangements using orchids, Pampas grass, David Austin roses, Scabiosas and berries. “I wanted everything to look perfectly out of place, nothing too ‘match matchy’,” she describes.
“Matthew is very familiar with my style and each meeting was an amazing and fun collaboration of ideas. I knew there was no one better to bring my vision to life, and he absolutely nailed it!”
Rachael, 25 and Shane, 31, wed on April 29, 2017, three years after first meeting at a mutual friend’s party. A ceremony at Saint Joseph’s Church Subiaco was followed by a marquee reception at unique event space The Quarry Amphitheatre in City Beach. The pair hired a Booths N Things photo booth to entertain their guests.
Rachael says if she could change anything about her day, she’d take a step back at the reception and take everything in. “But I think Shane and I were having too much fun to stop!”
“It was truly the best day.”

Groom Shane suited up in a shawl-lapel tuxedo, white pleat dinner shirt and classic black bow tie.
When the bouquets arrived in the morning, Rachael and her bridesmaids’ jaws dropped. “His work was even better than I had imagined!”
“From start to finish our wedding was perfectly us,” recalls Rachael. “It was totally relaxed and filled with love and laughter.”
Rachael says each and every vendor did an amazing job for their wedding, adding, “We couldn’t have asked for a better team.”
“Shane and I couldn’t wipe the smile off our faces all day, and each day since.”
Rachael wore a long sleeve, lace couture wedding gown with long train and flattering deep V neckline.
Rachael’s gorgeous bridesmaids each wore something different, tying in together with a uniform colour and their bouquets made with anthriums, roses, peonies, and pampas.
In lieu of bomboniere, Rachael and Shane donated on behalf of their guests to a friend’s charity – Owen James Di Candilo Fund. “This way the money we spent went to a well-deserved cause,” explains Rachael.
Rachael and Shane highly recommend Ultimo Catering – the Quarry Amphitheatre’s exclusive caterer. “We had alternate-drop entree and mains, featuring fish, gnocchi, and meat,” recalls Rachael. “Everything was delish!”
“Each day of married life so far has been better than the rest,” says Rachael.
