The tropics were calling Kelly Reid and Ryan McPhee for their special day.
The Gold Coast couple, aged 29 and 33 respectively, love the water so it was only natural they would opt to marry in Kelly’s hometown, Palm Cove. “From a proposal on a tropical island under the white cabana, surrounded by candles for a private beach dinner, to the planning of my dream wedding, I knew I was going to be marrying the most amazing guy in the world,” smiles Kelly.
The bride says she planned everything down to a fine detail – but she couldn’t stop the dark clouds rolling in on the morning of her Palm Cove wedding. Yet, they were a blessing in disguise, creating amazing photographs after the ceremony at Alamanda Chapel.
Their 67 guests were treated to a celebration at The Reef House, where Kelly also had a surprise waiting. “My husband – who had broken his leg three months prior in a jet ski accident – surprised me by singing me a song because he couldn’t dance with me,” explains Kelly. “It was so romantic.”

Politix dressed the groom and Roger David kitted out the groomsmen, in satin trim suits for a formal take on the tropical nuptials.
Rachael Gregory Hair & Make-up Artist showed off the sheer back detail of Kelly’s Martina Liana gown with a beautiful up-do.
“Having my little brother sing as I walked down the aisle was a highlight for me,” says Kelly of Connor Reid, an aspiring musician.
Celebrant Aphrodite Anderson wed the Cairns couple. “We were married by the actual Greek goddess of love,” jokes Kelly.
“I had the best night of my life and I wouldn’t change a thing,” says the bride.
The couple created an Instagram hashtag, which is a great way to locate your photos after the wedding day.
