People already called Emily and Cam an old married couple long before they walked down the aisle.
The Brisbane pair met when they were just 17 and were together for more than seven years before celebrating their vintage boho wedding. “People were calling us an old married couple long before Cam proposed, so I knew entering the next chapter of our life will be easy,” Emily, 25, says.
She and Cam, also 25, wed surrounded by 71 guests and a few farmyard friends in the country atmosphere of Clandulla Cottages, Boyland on August 26, 2017.
The couple wed under a boho wedding arch in the property’s garden, which Emily says helped set the scene for the rest of the wedding decor.
“My gorgeous sister purchased the macramé backdrop as our wedding present and it just tied everything in so well and helped me make the decision on my table decorations to match,” the bride says.
The reception celebrations were held at the venue’s rustic barn. “All the signs, greenery and table decorations were DIY,” Emily says. “The barn was enough on its own so we wanted to keep everything as simple as possible. I think we were able to find a good balance between the vintage and boho theme.”
Emily describes the day as magical. “From the animals, to the barn to the gorgeous countryside, everything about our wedding showcased our life and our love,” she says.
“Having done DIY made it even more special because everything was one-of- a-kind and our personal touch.”

“Even my dress was DIY,” Emily says proudly. She worked with a dressmaker to create her dream gown – complete with sleeves, a cut-out back and three-layer train.
“We complete each other in a way I have never seen before and we are more in love every day,” Emily says of her relationship with Cam.
The rural setting allowed the wedding party and guests get up close to the local wildlife and farm animals.”They let the guests feed the animals during the wait between the ceremony and reception so we know no one would be bored!” Emily says of the venue.
Acoustic duo Jake and Andy played throughout the entire day. “We did not have to worry about one thing when it came to the music and they were the perfect choice to keep everything chill but elegant,” Emily says.
Fittingly for the laid-back couple, the evening ended around a campfire under the stars.
